The Post Millennial has obtained exclusive details from a source who viewed the interior vehicle video recording of the tragic murder of a Portland taxi driver at the hands of a trans suspect.

Moses Jacob Lopez, an LGBTQ+ activist, has been charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon for the stabbing that claimed the life of Radio Cab driver Reese McDowell Lawhon on Easter Sunday in southeast Portland.

The recently deceased victim had reportedly remained hopeful about being able to meet his biological parents for the first time. The video recordings are said to have captured Lopez entering the cab wearing a tiara and women’s clothing, providing an address to the driver, and then suddenly stabbing him in the neck several minutes into the ride.

The witness has described the footage as the “most disturbing and gruesome” that they have ever seen.

According to multiple sources, Lopez had been arrested and charged with felonies six days before the murder, based on alleged threats with a knife against a BiMart shopper in another Oregon county. Despite these charges, Lopez was promptly released without bail before arriving in Portland from Coos Bay.

In a statement to the Post Millennial the Sheriff’s office stated: “Lopez reported during the booking process that they identify as a transgender female.

Per our policy, an adult in custody (AIC) who identifies as transgender shall be housed in a sheltered housing unit for up to 72 hours, excluding weekends and holidays, while the Transgender Review Board assesses appropriate housing options that address safety, risk for abuse and minimizing perceived or actual fear of becoming a victim of violence.”

Recent social media posts from Lopez suggest that she had begun transitioning around 2019, with many posts featuring symbols and slogans of LGBTQ+ activism. Although Lopez’s motive for the alleged murder remains unclear, the tragic incident occurred against the backdrop of a surge of trans activists openly encouraging and threatening violence on social media.

This phenomenon follows recent measures by several states restricting the medical transitioning of minors.

At the arraignment on Monday, Lopez pleaded not guilty to the charges. Identification by the police proved difficult, with attempts to ascertain the suspect’s name delayed until Wednesday evening. Even then, the police would not confirm whether Lopez identified as transgender. Multiple inquiries eventually revealed that Lopez had indeed identified as a transgender woman while in jail.

Despite this, the police has not cited Lopez's gender identity as a factor in the case. Lopez worked as a certified nursing assistant for around ten years, but her employment was terminated in June 2021 based on abusive and threatening behavior towards co-workers, according to probation documents. Her next court appearance is scheduled for April 18, and she remains in custody.
