According to the Leon County Sheriff's Office official statement, Angel Drew Footman, who was then a sixth-grade teacher at Griffin Middle School, permitted students to fight during school hours.
Miss Footman also allegedly made several statements, including "30 seconds, no screaming, no yelling and no phones." Additionally, two of the girls fighting were reportedly invited by Miss Footman to come back to her 6th-period planning session to 'run it back.' According to affidavits, Miss Footman even asked the fighters if they wanted to have a 'friendly fade' before starting the fight.

Court documents obtained by the Miami Herald state that four girls who fought on camera said the fights were preplanned and endorsed by the teacher.
Multiple school administrators heard Footman's voice on the recordings, issuing instructions such as "stop pulling hair" and "break it up," according to the outlet. When questioned, Footman admitted that she "did not organize fights in any way, but failed to take quick action to stop the altercations or report them to administrators."
