Louisville Police have disclosed the identity of the individual who carried out the shooting at the Old National Bank on East Main Street Monday morning.

As mentioned during the 3 p.m. news briefing by the Louisville Interim Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel, the attacker was Connor Sturgeon, a 25-year-old individual employed at the bank.

The Chief also stated that during the attack, Sturgeon was live streaming and had used a rifle to fire at responding officers. The officers then returned fire, killing Sturgeon, thereby ending the threat.

There have been no prior contacts between the police and the gunman, according to Gwinn-Villaroel. Nonetheless, it remains unclear whether Sturgeon purchased the rifle himself or not.

Sturgeon's father was reportedly a successful basketball coach in Indiana, who recently retired after leading his team to two sectional titles with a record of 142-45.

The high school is closely located to downtown Louisville, located ten miles away, as per the WLKY-TV report from April 2022. Before coaching there, he left his job as the head coach at the University of Indianapolis to spend more time with his family when his sons were six and nine years old, according to a report by his alma mater, DePauw University.
