The police body cam footage of the incident has entirely refuted one woman’s story about how her miscarriage came about.

She had claimed that an encounter with police ended up causing her to have a miscarriage.

State troopers tried to pull over Quashaia Oranchak on March 20. Police say that she did not comply with the order to pull over. Another state trooper pulled in front of her, and her car struck the state trooper’s car.

Fox News reports that state troopers yelled for Oranchak to get out of the car. They then arrested her for fleeing from an officer. Police say that they found drugs in Oranchak’s vehicle and that she had traces of Fentanyl and methamphetamine in her bloodstream.

Police spoke with Fox News Digital and said that Oranchak became unresponsive at Broome County Correctional Facility before being taken to a hospital for treatment. She ultimately had a miscarriage, but this is a far cry from the situation that Oranchak had tried to claim happened to her based on her encounter with the police. She was more than six months pregnant when this incident played out.

A spokesperson for the police department said: “A quantity of Fentanyl and methamphetamine was located secreted in her body.” The suspect was ultimately charged with criminal possession of controlled substances, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, and fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle.

In the bodycam footage, you can hear one of the officers recognize that Oranchak is pregnant, and they try to do what they can to protect her from a bad situation getting even worse. Unfortunately, there are some situations when things spiral out of control and cannot be fixed. This was the case in those circumstances.

The officer says: “Ultimately, at the end of the day, like I told you before, I’m a reasonable guy,” and “I see that you’re pregnant. If you’re not good, you need to let me know because you’re in my custody now. Your well-being is part of my responsibility.”

Oranchak responds: “I’m okay for right now.”

Oranchak’s lawyer Ronald Benjamin spoke with Fox News Digital and said he feels strongly that his client’s rights were violated. Thus, he is still looking to pursue a case against the police department. That said, there might not be much of a case to be made depending on how this situation’s facts ultimately play out.
