A homeless woman allegedly butchered a homeless shelter coordinator with an ax.

According to police, she was wiping blood off her hands with a paper towel after the incident.

It began with a simple request from Zaaina Asra Zakirrah Mahvish-Jammeh, a 38-year-old resident of Morningside House shelter, to speak with the social worker, 36-year-old Leah Rosin-Pritchard, in the living room.

According to Fox News, “Responding officers, who reviewed security footage, said Mahvish-Jammeh and Rosin-Pritchard were out of the camera’s view, but they heard a ‘muffled’ conversation before the ‘thudding and screaming started,’ the affidavit says.”

When the two women enter the camera’s view, the resident can be seen attacking the social worker with an axe. She had purchased the axe one day before the incident for about $34.

Fox says, “After attacking Rosin-Pritchard, Mahvish-Jammeh turned to another employee and said, ‘I like you. It’s Leah I (sounds like didn’t like or don’t like). I like you,’ the affidavit alleges.”

After that, she took a knife from the sink and continued attacking the social worker. After finishing the murder, she took off a few bloody items and walked around the first floor of the building while still carrying the axe. Then, she returned with the axe while Rosin-Pritchard lay on the ground.

Zaaina pled not guilty to a first-degree murder charge. She did surrender to the police without another incident occurring. The staff at the homeless shelter describe the victim as wonderful and caring. They said that the shelter would not be the same without her.
