When we think of someone robbing a store, we usually think of them breaking through the door or a window.

However, these burglars got extremely crafty to ensure they could make off with as much merchandise as possible without tripping the alarm, and they took off with around $500k worth of merchandise from an Apple store. You won’t believe how they did it.

The Apple store is located in a mall in Washington state. Instead of heading straight into the store, they went into the bathroom of an espresso machine store next door to the Apple store. Then, they cut a hole in the bathroom wall to access the Apple store. The owner of the espresso machine store says it’s the first time he’s seen something like this.

Fox News reports, “‘Our front door was locked. They pried our front door open,’ Seattle Coffee Gear Regional Manager Eric Marks told the outlet, adding that the break-in would cost his store around $2,000 in repairs.” The move took Marks by surprise. He said he had no idea the store was adjacent to the Apple store.

Marks isn’t the only one surprised. The hole in his bathroom led to the backroom of the Apple store, where plenty of merchandise was stored. Apple employees had no clue that the break-in had occurred until they arrived and realized the merchandise was missing.

Lynwood Police Department is investigating the matter. Per Fox News, “‘Approximately 436 iPhones in total were taken out of the back,’ Lynwood Police Department Communications Manager Maren McKay told Fox News Digital in a statement. ‘In total, about $500,000 worth of merchandise was stolen, and that’s iPhones, iPads, Apple watches.’”

McKay further called the break in a sophisticated and organized operation. He states that they found no fingerprints at the scene, and the criminals were all wearing masks.
