Van Jones, a left-wing commentator on CNN, recently expressed his lack of enjoyment in regards to the arraignment of former President Donald Trump.

Following the arraignment on Tuesday, during which the former President faced 34 counts of allegedly falsifying business records, Jones made an observation on video footage that Trump appeared downcast. Jones also revealed how he does not appreciate the prison system or what it does to individuals, as he offered his humane viewpoint on the matter at hand. "And you know just as a human being, I don't take joy. I don't like the prison system, I don't like what it does to people, so I don't like this process, I don't take any celebration in seeing him looking that way," Jones said.

Jones concluded by emphasizing how accountability must be upheld, but acknowledged that Trump appeared to be a grandfather experiencing a very bad day, not a conqueror.

However, Jones' comments were not universally appreciated and immediately circulated on social media by critics on the left. Disability lifestyle writer Ola Ojewumi tweeted, "As a community, we need to organize how and when to pull up on Van Jones. I had to turn off CNN. He kept trying to make Trump a victim of an unjust court system. Why attempt to humanize Trump as a grandfather and parent when he used his power as President to dehumanize us?"

A talk show host, Reecie Colbert, did not hold back in her criticism and pointed out how this wasn't just another grandfather getting arrested at Walmart, but a man who paid hush money for his illicit affairs and allegedly committed decades of criminal behavior. Another critic accused Jones of favoring white people. A tweet that stood out referred to Jones as a "dumb motherf***er."

Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges, but his arraignment on 34 counts still made U.S. history as no other former U.S. President had ever faced such criminal charges before.
