Fox News reports that it can also have some other implications related to how legislative maps are drawn in the state and so much more.
For the last 15 years, the Supreme Court in Wisconsin has had a conservative majority and has been able to protect conservative objectives and ideals. However, the dramatic shift that might take place if the liberals took over could immediately impact the lives of all Wisconsin residents.

Democratic-backed candidate Janet Protasiewicz is squaring off against Republican-backed Dan Kelly in the most expensive state court race in American history.

Democrats are drooling at the possibility of taking over control of the courts in Wisconsin in the lead-up to the 2024 election because they firmly believe that this will allow them to redraw the legislative maps of Wisconsin and can help them make rulings about any potential voting irregularity cases in the state for 2024.

Protasiewicz has made it clear that if elected, she will overturn an 1849 law currently in place that bans abortion in Wisconsin. Kelly has not stated how he would rule on the case, but it is widely expected that he would leave the abortion ban in place. Thus, the race has pivoted around this issue. Voters have a specific choice in this race, and the battleground lines have been drawn.

Kelly has frequently expressed his opposition to abortion access in the past. He used to blog about this issue and many others. In a 2012 blog post, Kelly said that the Democratic Party and the National Organization for Women were committed to normalizing the taking of human life. He has also received the endorsement of three anti-abortion groups, and Planned Parenthood directly backs his opponent.

Trump endorsed Kelly in 2020 during a run for the court after he had been appointed to a seat on the court. He was unsuccessful in that bid, and Trump did not endorse any candidate in the race this time. Protasiewicz received the endorsement of Hillary Clinton, among others. The voters will have a chance to contemplate all of this and determine how they want to see their state judged.
