According to Missouri Representative Cori Bush, advocating for "gender-affirming care" does not equate to "grooming."

Some individuals on the left support minors' access to puberty blockers, hormones, and gender-related surgeries, while conservatives actively oppose the promotion of gender-transition measures for minors. Those who advocate the idea of exposing children to leftist gender ideology and events like drag shows have been called "groomers" by some. Bush maintains that transgender individuals exist and argues that everyone must reject hateful rhetoric about promoting gender-affirming care.

"Let's be clear on this: it's not 'grooming' to advocate for gender-affirming care for trans people. There also isn't a 'trans debate' — trans people exist. You cannot debate someone's existence. It's on all of us to draw a line in the sand on this hateful rhetoric," Bush tweeted.

In addition, she accused the GOP of pursuing policies that result in mass shootings, claiming that their views on the Second Amendment prevent common-sense regulations on gun ownership. During a congressional hearing in March, Bush emphasized the need for a public health response to gun violence and vowed not to concede to the nihilist, insurrectionist view of the Second Amendment.
