A statewide grand jury investigation in Florida has discovered that illegal alien adults, including criminals and gang members, claim to be Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) to be released into the United States with the help of federal authorities.

Governor Ron DeSantis requested the statewide grand jury by the Florida Supreme Court. The jury comprises veterans, teachers, homemakers, business owners and retirees. Its task is to investigate smuggling operations that are the source of illegal immigration in the U.S.

The investigation found that migrant children who arrive at the southern border are taken into the custody of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), handed over to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and then released to sponsors in American communities, thereby making the UAC pipeline into the U.S. interior open to exploitation by illegal aliens. The grand jury reported that many of these illegal aliens, pretending to be children, go on to commit murder and other crimes.

The misuse of the UAC pipeline by illegal aliens is also associated with gang activity, including members of the MS-13 gang. One of the cases cited by the grand jury involved an individual named Yery Noel Medina Ulloa, who posed as a UAC to get into the U.S. and later allegedly murdered a father-of-four who was his sponsor. Hundreds of illegal aliens try to enter the US interior each year using the UAC pipeline, many of which are gang members.

When adults posing as UACs are found, they are removed from the program but allowed to enter American communities. The grand jury uncovered evidence that some adults had fake documents showing their age as a minor. The Border Patrol’s acting chief testified that even in 2017, adult aliens pretending to be children were found defying the program's rules, engaging in fights, and making threats due to gang affiliation. These findings are particularly significant because since President Joe Biden has been in office, a quarter of a million UACs have been resettled with sponsors in communities across the U.S.
