During an interview with "60 Minutes" host Lesley Stahl on Sunday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., stood by her previous claims that the Democratic Party is the "party of pedophiles," causing a momentary pause in Stahl's response.

Greene also accused Democrats of supporting "grooming children." Her remarks were prompted when Stahl repeated a comment that Greene made in the past.

Stahl expressed surprise at Greene's claims, and asked her why she would make such a statement about Democrats. Greene went on to suggest that supporting drag shows and transgender surgeries for children was equivalent to sexualizing children, a practice that she said is what pedophiles do. "Even Joe Biden, the president himself, supports children being sexualized and having transgender surgeries. Sexualizing children is what pedophiles do to children," she added. “Wow,” Stahl responded with shock.

It should be noted that there is no evidence to support Greene's allegations against prominent Democrats, despite Republicans like Greene suggesting that their views on issues like drag shows and transgenderism equate to pedophilia.

In the "60 Minutes" interview, Greene also criticized prominent Republicans like Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, former House Speaker Paul Ryan, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., stating that they had failed Americans and that this was why she had entered politics.

Stahl questioned Greene's tendency to engage in name-calling and personal attacks, asking whether she could fight for her beliefs without resorting to such measures. Greene responded by saying that she was simply responding in kind to the "names and insults" that she had received since joining Congress.

Since Greene's support for some far-right conspiracy theories led to her removal from her committees soon after she entered office in 2021, her interview with Stahl on "60 Minutes" was met with criticism from some journalists and political commentators.

Liberal commentator Elie Mystal wrote in a tweet, "The way you guys say her ‘nickname’ is MTG... as if it's a cute moniker bestowed by her besties... when her initials are just MTG and her ‘nicknames’ are ‘Marjorie Three Names’ and ‘Unfrozen Caveman Congresswoman’ just shows that you're here to launder her rep and complicit.”

Stahl and MTG touched on other comments from MTG regarding the Parkland school shooting, the debt ceiling and the Russia/Ukraine war.
