Former Attorney General Bill Barr recently spoke out, making his opinion on the Trump indictment public.

He calls it an abomination.

On Thursday, Trump became the first ex-president in the history of America to be indicted by a grand jury. Barr was a guest on Fox Business to speak about the matter with Larry Kudlow.

Per Fox News, “‘Obviously, we don’t have the indictment, so there’s a little bit of speculation involved,’ Barr began. ‘But based on the news reports, if they’re accurate, this is an abomination.’”

After that, Barr has several more things to say. He points out how they are going after Trump, not the alleged crime he committed, because they wouldn’t charge anyone else. He then called the legal theory pathetic and weak.

According to Fox, “‘The claim is that [recording the Cohen reimbursements as legal payments] is false and therefore violated a misdemeanor statute in the first instance against false documents,’ Barr said. ‘I don’t think that’s a valid claim in this case because the statute requires that it be done with the intent to defraud.’”

Barr says that Bragg is assuming that it’s campaign fraud. However, he says that’s not how it works. According to Barr, the Justice Department will not see things similarly.

Former President Trump has been under investigation for the alleged hush money for years. District Attorney Alvin Bragg maintained that Trump used campaign funds to pay hush money to Stormy Daniels, who allegedly received $130,000, and former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who reportedly received $150,000. According to the accusations, he paid them hush money to silence them leading up to the 2016 presidential campaign. However, many say this is the same old witch hunt that we repeatedly see regarding Trump. They never seem to stop going after him.
