According to WKBN News, the two drove away from the restaurant only to ram their car into a solids-holding tank at a local sewer plant, becoming stuck in human excrement and raw sewage.
According to WFMJ, police found Ferrara hiding behind a building and arrested him. When officers were arresting Ferrara, Schroeder allegedly talked back and was also arrested. She was reportedly intoxicated and had to be pulled out of the tank by police. Ferrara was charged with inciting panic, trespassing, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest, and his bond was set at $20,000. Schroeder was charged with trespassing, and her bond was set at $2,500. The two are currently being held at Columbiana County Jail.
This incident comes when East Palestine is still reeling from the February 3 Norfolk Southern 50-car train derailment that released toxic chemicals into the community. According to WKBN News, photos of the scene were taken by the East Palestine Police Department.
