Capitol Hill saw a heated argument over gun control when Democrat Jamaal Bowman began screaming at Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, and his GOP colleagues.

He repeatedly called them cowards for refusing to support stricter gun laws.

Bowman yelled that they were cowards and said that the GOP would not do anything to protect children. This comes in the wake of another school shooting. Bowman continued to yell, encouraging Americans to pressure and force Republicans to explain why they wouldn’t support strict gun laws.

Most Republicans walked by Bowman without responding to him. Then, Thomas Massie walked by him. According to NBC, “Several lawmakers walked by Bowman without engaging before Massie stops in front of him and says there has never been a shooting at a school where teachers were allowed to carry guns.”

Bowman’s response to that comment was that if you have more guns, it will only lead to more deaths. Bowman further accuses Massie of not looking at the data. However, Massie looked at the data. The data shows that a federal gun ban in school zones is ineffective.

Massie continued to engage with Bowman and then asked him to co-sponsor a bill that would repeal the federal ban because, according to the data, it’s not practical. Repealing the federal ban would also open the door for teachers being able to have a gun to protect children. However, Democrats aren’t okay with that, even though it will help keep school kids safe. Instead, the only way that they want to protect children is if it’s their way.

Throughout the exchange, Massie told Bowman to calm down. Bowman says that he can’t because kids are dying. Then, he says that arming teachers will not solve the problem. There would be fewer school shootings if teachers had guns; everyone knew they did.
