Maren Morris, a country music star hailing from Texas, made headlines when she boldly declared that Tennessee should "f------ arrest me" during a pro-LGBTQ concert, just weeks after the state announced a ban on drag shows near schools.

Her speech was praised by several liberal media outlets, including The Washington Post and Variety. During her remarks, the singer revealed, "I brought my son here earlier today for soundcheck, and he’s turning three this week, and we got to go in the room where all the queens were getting ready and doing their makeup. And he freaked out when he went in there because it’s just magic what drag queens do." "There’s wigs everywhere, and the smell of hairspray and wig glue; there’s glitter; everyone’s in a good mood," she added.

Tennessee had previously enacted restrictions on "adult-oriented businesses," and the new legislation banned drag shows on public property and near schools. However, Morris was not the only star to speak out in defense of the drag community. RuPaul made a fiery statement claiming that drag queens were like "Marines," while "Bridesmaids" actress Melissa McCarthy also defended drag queens on Instagram.

At the concert, Morris consciously tried to demonstrate the subjectivity of drag and gender expression by wearing a suit. She asked why people feel powerful in a suit, whether due to the combination of masculine and feminine elements, its comfort, or simply its appearance.

Morris was the only mainstream country act among the lineup of performers at the "Love Rising" benefit concert, which included Hayley Williams, Hozier, Becca Mancari, and others. Fox News Digital reached out for comment, but Morris has not responded. It is clear, however, that Morris is an advocate for the drag community, willing to challenge the restrictive legislation of her home state.
