Four Americans traveled to Mexico last week.

They crossed the border into Matamoros. Video footage showed the Americans being held at gunpoint and pulled from their vehicle. Then, they were kidnapped. Two Americans died during the incident. The FBI began hunting for the Americans, and the Mexican President pledged his support. Two are dead, but the Mexican Cartel says they are sorry.

Fox News reports, “A letter purportedly from the Mexican cartel allegedly behind the kidnapping and subsequent killing of Americans last week claimed it has dealt with the members’ involved and responsible’ for the incident, handing them over for authorities to detain.”

The police were on the hunt for the vehicles involved in the incident. When they found one and searched it, they discovered five men tied up with a letter from the cartel. The letter states that the men acted independently, and the incident was due to their lack of discipline, so they handed them over. It further says that they’re against hurting innocent people. It also apologized for the harm to another woman during the incident.

The four Americans were all from South Carolina. Fox says, “The four Americans have been identified as LaTavia McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Eric Williams, and Zindell Brown, all of South Carolina. The FBI has said it cannot identify the survivors. Still, their families identified McGee and Williams as the survivors, and Mexican officials confirmed Woodard and Brown as the deceased.”
