Former Capitol Police officer Tarik Johnson, who played a critical role in securing the certification of the 2020 presidential election on January 6, claims that he was ignored by the House Select Committee despite his pivotal role.

In an interview with Fox News' Tucker Carlson, Johnson stated that his voice was one of the first to be heard on the audio transmission that day, but he was never given a chance to testify before the committee.

"I guess the focus was on Donald Trump," Johnson said, adding that he did not hear anything from Capitol Police chief assistant Yogananda Pittman, who allegedly kept vital information about the protests from him. Johnson criticized the lack of preparation that day and emphasized that the frontline officers on duty were not aware of the warnings of a massive disturbance at the Capitol.

"We should have been better prepared that day, and we could have been better prepared that day if the information was disseminated like it was supposed to be," Johnson said.

Despite pleading for help on January 6, Johnson said he did not receive any guidance from his superiors, so he took matters into his own hands. He was later put on indefinite suspension after being spotted outside the Capitol wearing a Make America Great Again hat, which received national attention. Johnson, a Biden voter, claimed a Trump supporter placed the hat on his head, and he decided to keep wearing it for self-preservation as he navigated the pro-Trump crowd outside.

"I couldn't say what would have happened walking through that crowd without it," Johnson said.

Meanwhile, Carlson has been critical of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Sens. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., and Mitt Romney, R-Utah, for their reaction to the exclusive footage of the January 6 incident that he obtained. Carlson called out Schumer for calling on Fox News to prevent the host from airing more footage from January 6, saying that it contradicts the First Amendment.

Carlson claimed that the hysteria and red-in-the-face anger threaten the lies that Chuck Schumer has been telling for the last 26 months.

"But what's really happening here? What you're seeing is – hysteria, the overstatement, the crazed hyperbole, the red-in-the-face anger – what is that? Well, it's outrage, of course. It's fear. It's panic,” Tucker lamented.

The first installment of the released January 6 footage on Monday night showed Trump supporters inside the Capitol appearing as "sightseers" rather than violent rioters widely portrayed in the media. The footage included Officer Brian Sicknick seen inside the Capitol building wearing a helmet while appearing physically fine, contradicting reports that his fatal stroke following January 6 resulted from an assault that day. Carlson called out members of the January 6 Committee for being liars, claiming that they are all aligned against everyone else.

Johnson criticized the January 6 Committee for not giving him a chance to testify despite his critical role that day. Carlson has been critical of the response to the exclusive footage of the January 6 incident that he obtained.

Johnson said, "I prayed almost daily that they would get to me. I was never asked to testify…I was never asked by anybody connected to the January 6 Committee to testify. I asked myself why every day, and every day I might have a different answer. But, you know, pretty much they focused on Donald Trump and not the failures of the Capitol Police."
