A group of pro-life doctors stated they were barred from joining an OBGYN medical conference they would have liked to have participated in.

The American Association of Pro-Life OB/GYNs tweeted this, saying they were "banned from attending the annual CREOG OB/GYN medical education conference this morning."

The Christian Post reports that the event was the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Council on Resident Education in Gynecology and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics' annual meeting. This event was held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, from Monday through Wednesday this past week. However, the pro-life doctors were told they were not welcome to attend.

AAPLOG says it was banned from the conference because the organization hosting the event was "upset that we're telling our patients how harmful abortion is." However, AAPLOG notes it has "presented at the CREOG conference for the last 15 years.". Thus, the organization was upset with their viewpoints more recently, and those viewpoints seemed to cause a stir or a problem only recently. Therefore, AAPLOG has a solid case that the organization is discriminating against them because of the views they and their members hold.

The AAPLOG group put out messaging about their disappointment related to being barred from the event by saying: "This is especially shameful given this year's conference theme: 'Building Bridges.'"

AAPLOG CEO Dr. Christina Francis said the conference was "for physicians educating the next generation of OB/GYNs."

This is something that the organization does not believe is what pro-life doctors fit into. However, that is a genuinely devastating position to take, given how many pro-life doctors exist.

Dr. Francis added: "Despite multiple requests for an explanation as to why, the only explanation we've received is a vague explanation that we disagree with ACOG, presumably on the issue of abortion."

She also said that the theme of "Building Bridges" was particularly ironic since ACOG has "no desire to build bridges with those of us who disagree even a little bit with them on their position on abortion." according to Dr. Francis.

Overall, even some professional organizations like this are permitted to discriminate against people based on their political points of view. This is even though those views don't impact the healthcare services they can offer their patients.
