Marilyn Singleton, a visiting fellow from the medical organization Do No Harm, recently shared her thoughts on the growing influence of Critical Race Theory and diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) agendas in the workplace and medicine.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Singleton spoke about her efforts to raise awareness about the claims of "implicit bias" that she believes is being forced upon people.

Singleton had initially penned an opinion piece for the Washington Post titled "I’m a Black physician, and I’m appalled by mandated implicit bias training." She discussed how she had first encountered Critical Race Theory while attending law school in 1992. Since then, what began as a "heady" theory has been pushed into an objective.

In the interview, Singleton expressed her disgust at the thought process of oppressed and oppressors that has infiltrated various aspects of society through DEI training, such as schools and workplaces. She believes that these practices are reminiscent of her experiences with segregation and that they are insidiously seeping into people's minds without their knowledge.

Singleton criticized the "radical," almost "Marxist" agenda of DEI training, which hardly seems to focus on issues that Americans care about regularly. She derided the lack of focus on real-life problems, such as the current inflation crisis and how to afford everyday necessities.

Regarding the future, Singleton promoted several organizations, including her own, Do No Harm, that are working to expose DEI teachings and provide counter efforts to combat them in schools as well as the workplace. She emphasized the need to start from the premise that, at the bottom, we are all human beings and to focus on bringing people together instead of separating them by race.

A recent study from Revelio Labs found that companies cut DEI positions at a higher rate (33%) in layoffs last year than other positions (21%.) However, despite this, the Biden administration recently appointed its first "counselor for equity" within the Department of Commerce. The position aims to "institutionalize equity across all workstreams and advise senior leadership on policy design and implementation strategies that help advance the equity agenda."

Singleton's perspective on the influence of Critical Race Theory and DEI agendas in various fields highlights the need to prioritize traditional values. Her call to action to combat these teachings with alternate lesson plans and positive efforts to bring people together is crucial in preserving these values.
