Breitbart reports that at least two petitions are circulating among the public that take direct aim at The New York Times for its recent coverage of how some schools throughout the country are encouraging students to change their gender without their parents' knowledge.
The first petition launched against the New York Times seems to have gathered approximately 200 signatures from people on the paper’s staff and the general public. The activists are not concerned with the facts of the newspaper’s story. Instead, they appear to be upset that such allegations were reported.

Lena Dunham was one of the people to sign the petition. That first petition reads in part:

“As thinkers, we are disappointed to see the New York Times follow the lead of far-right hate groups in presenting gender diversity as a new controversy warranting new, punitive legislation.”

This is not the only petition attacking the New York Times over this. There is a second petition as well that is supported by the gay-rights organization GLADD. That organization says, “For more than a year, the New York Times has stood for something else: irresponsible, biased coverage of transgender people.”

It is interesting to see that liberal activists are focusing on what they say is biased despite the paper being known as having a left-leaning take on most stories. Many people question why liberals are upset by the fact that the newspaper covered the story instead of being upset by the story itself. They have their priorities off-kilter on this one.

GLADD is not stepping down from its position. The petition that they put forward reads:
“Stop the anti-trans narratives immediately. Stop platforming anti-trans activists. Stop presenting anti-trans extremists as average Americans without an agenda. Stop questioning trans people’s right to exist and access medical care. Stop questioning best practice medical care. Stop questioning science that is SETTLED.”
They also insisted that the Times hire 3 to 4 trans people to add to their staff. None of those demands have been responded to by the Times.
