COVID-19 vaccinations have become a major factor in the current dating landscape, determining the success or failure of a relationship.

Shelby Thomson and Heather Pyle, two entrepreneurs from Maui, Hawaii, created the first-ever internet dating platform devoted to individuals who have not received vaccinations.

During the height of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution in 2021, those not vaccinated encountered difficulty with the online dating experience.

The results of a poll taken by Dating.com in 2021 showed that the vast majority of participants (86%) declared they would not go out with someone who was not vaccinated.

Most dating platforms currently enable users to specify if they have been vaccinated on their profiles.

Thomson reported that those who were not vaccinated had no choice but to keep that information from any potential online suitors.

“They were only allowed to be vaccinated. And you had to have this badge in your [online] profile,” she continued.

In May 2021, the two women launched a dating app called "Unjected," specifically for those who have not received a vaccine, and this app is available on Google and Apple stores, as reported by Epoch Times.

Thomson mentioned that “We started seeing people wanting to find partners,” as she was observing her unvaccinated friends.

Not long after its launch, Thomson and Pyle started receiving hate mail and then the media began to put out negative press about it. Apple subsequently took down the "Unjected" app from the store as it was said to be propagating false information regarding vaccinations, as per the statement from the company.

In August 2021, a response to Google's potential actions to drop the site, was the launch of Unjected.com, a website maintained by GoDaddy.

As stated on the Unjected website “Unjected was founded with a goal to help us easier connect in a world of medical discrimination and censorship. We believe that we all have a lot in common when it comes to being conscious about our choices, and we think that there is great connections to be made when like-minded people like us are gathered in the same social space.”

The site is about “dating, friendships, community, social feeds, blood and fertility directories.”

The site also offers an outlet to individuals who felt pressured to take the vaccine “We have categories for those who were vaxxed and regret their decision. A lot of these people are family and friends, we’re not excluding those who want love & respect!”
