Kevin McCarthy, the House Speaker from California, reacted to Sen.

Romney's declaration of dissatisfaction that McCarthy had not yet demanded the resignation of Rep. George Santos from New York.

McCarthy was asked about Mitt Romney's comments on Wednesday regarding his dissatisfaction with the speaker not demanding the resignation of Santos. His response was, "Romney should be disappointed that [Rep. Eric] Swalwell [(D-CA)] hasn’t resigned.”

On Tuesday night, prior to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address, Romney and Santos were engaged in a heated discussion inside the House chamber. It is said that Romney said to Santos, "You don't belong here."

After hearing President Biden's address, the senator reaffirmed his prior comments and responded "yes" when asked if he was let down that McCarthy had not yet demanded Santos's resignation.

Romney mentioned Rep. George Santos, who is a representative of Long Island and is currently undergoing a barrage of calls to leave his post. There are also investigations in progress by prosecutors into his financial accounts, both public and private, as well as the lies that he has acknowledged concerning his career and family.

According to Breitbart News, McCarthy's remarks about Swalwell can likely be linked to the California Democrat's connections with a Chinese spy called Fang Fang. This was exposed in a report from Breitbart News in July 2021 which provided a detailed account of the Eric Swalwell-Fang Fang relationship.

In the past, McCarthy has expressed that there is no justification for Swalwell to be given a security clearance in Congress since he would not be able to acquire one in the private sector.
