While campaigning, Fetterman's opponent, Dr. Oz, raised doubts about the now-Pennsylvania senator's capacity to serve due to the lingering effects of a stroke. It is reported that Fetterman is still suffering from auditory processing disorder, which can impede his ability to speak fluently and quickly during a conversation. This was noticeable during the debate preceding the election, according to the AP.

Some voters had worries about his performance, and many of them asked why he had been presented as a nominee even though his health was not good.
P.J. Dolan, an independent, expressed his feelings after watching Fetterman in his debate. He said, "I felt for him. I felt empathetic for him and at the same time concerned.”
