The law would also punish people who work to lure young people into the gang.
Governor Brian Kemp points out that the law will come after all who identify with the gangs. Fox News reported that Kemp stated, “We’re making clear to gangs all across Georgia: come after our children, and we will come after you.”
The state Attorney General Chris Carr and Kemp showed up in force at the Georgia Anti-Gang Network. They laid out their plan for increased penalties and prison time for people that wanted to play around with the gangs.

“At a minimum, if a person [is] convicted of a gang crime, they will have an additional five to 20 years tacked onto their sentence to [be] served consecutively. If a person [is] convicted of recruiting minors into a gang, then that defendant will have an additional 10-20 years added to their sentence for a first-time offense, and 15-25 years for a second or subsequent conviction.”

Gang-related crimes are out of control, and Republican leaders are cracking down to keep people safe. Gang members will end up spending their lives in prison for being involved in gangs. They would not get the benefit of probation or an easy sentence.

Carr echoed the same sentiment as Kemp when he stated, “Gang activity targeting our schools and our children is particularly egregious and will not [be] tolerated.” And, “We are proud to be in this fight with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, and we will continue to serve as a force multiplier in our ongoing efforts to keep all Georgians safe.”
Gang members prowl the streets looking for young kids to recruit. They also look for their following targets as they drive around their territories.
