Since her escape from a living nightmare at the hands of traffickers, Jacinto's narrative has been extensively reported. She has gone around the world, addressing prominent figures such as Pope Francis. In January, she accompanied a number of U.S. senators on a visit to the U.S.-Mexico border to share the terrible experiences she endured.
Jacinto remembered her captors mentioning that she had come into the world with nothing and would leave it the same way.
A United Nations report from 2016 determined that around the world, a quarter of all modern slavery sufferers are minors, separated from their homes and families. Jacinto declared that she did not want to be included in this number.

At the age of 12, a 22-year-old man "rescued" Jacinto from her troubled family. She recounted that she was shown a lavish lifestyle full of wealth and luxury, including a house and a car. "The first couple of months were the most joyous time of my life," she added.
Then, Jacinto's rescuer became her procurer. He instructed her what amount to demand, how many customers to service, and how long she should remain. She spoke of having to assume certain postures, undress, and do things she had no desire to do, all for monetary compensation.

She revealed, "They subjected me to all sorts of torment such as whippings with sticks, chains, and cables, and even scalded me with a scorching iron." At the age of 14, Jacinto got pregnant. After Jacinto’s daughter was born, her abductors sent her back to work. After three months, the baby disappeared.

Jacinto did not see her daughter for a year and did not know what had happened to her. She said, "When they gave her back to me, she had a burn mark on her cheek." In the end, Jacinto says she was rescued by a customer named Jose.
She says that of all the people who had taken advantage of her, Jose was the only person who offered to help her escape. In the battle against human trafficking, Rosi Orozco, a previous Mexican congresswoman, was the first to aid Jacinto right after she had succeeded in her escape.

As she stood next to Jacinto at the border, Orozco declared that "saving one life is akin to saving the entire world," commending her companion for her activism. "Jacinto has helped countless individuals," she declared.
"The situation at the border is out of control," she declared. "This is not a political issue. It's about young boys and girls who are crossing illegally, not with their parents."
