CNN host Don Lemon has not been a stranger to controversy and is back at it again after claiming that Florida is “returning to Jim Crow.”

TownHall.com noted that the CNN report took issue with the fact that Florida is not going to permit an AP African-American course after Governor Ron DeSantis stepped into probity this course from being taught after he determined that the course did not offer educational value and that it was a politically biased educational course. Because of this, the Governor decided that this course would not be permitted in the state of Florida.

The state of Florida requires that all materials taught in schools in the Sunshine State be approved by the Florida Department of Education. This inevitably leads to some materials being rejected as inappropriate. Most people fully understand and accept this. However, Don Lemon would like you to equate this with book burning of some kind.

Don Lemon was beside himself when he heard that certain classes would be banned in Florida. Louder with Crowder reports that e told CNN’s Poppy Harlow:

“It feels like the 1950s all over again, with book banning. This cancels culture from people who are – I guess they just want our kids to be ignorant, and to control the teachers. This is outrageous ... it’s just ridiculous.”

Poppy Harlow jumped in and said it was unfair that teachers could be charged with a third-degree felony if they violated the new law. He said this issue wasn’t about parents having a say in what their children learn in Florida schools. Instead, he insists it is about banning books and tries to connect it with Nazism.

Lemon got made at the end of the interview and began to yell about how learning about history was supposed to be uncomfortable and challenging. With all of that going on, one might reasonably assume that Florida was trying to ban learning about something like slavery or the Holocaust, but that isn’t the case. Instead, Florida is simply banning pornography from being made available in schools.

The new Florida standard that lesson materials must be “free of pornography and material prohibited under state statute, suited to student needs and their ability to comprehend the material presented, appropriate for the grade level and age group for which the materials are used and made available.”

That is what Don Lemon is upset about.
