Speaking to Fox News, Twitter representative Vanessa Evangelista said that the labels were assigned in order to combat spam and keep the platform secure. “We take many measures to protect our platform from spam and other forms of malicious behavior,” she said. “These labels are simply one of the many tools that we use to ensure that our users can have a positive experience on our platform. We do not discriminate against any users based on their political views.”
