The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) put out an announcement on Friday that their Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) has “met the statistical criteria to prompt additional investigation into whether there was a safety concern for ischemic stroke in people ages 65 and older who received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent.”

Townhall reports that the announcement by the CDC update highlighted that “[t]o date, no other safety systems have shown a similar signal and multiple subsequent analyses have not validated this signal.” They stated, “[n]o change is recommended in COVID-19 vaccination practice”.

Despite all of this, the CDC has met the criteria necessary to investigate the potential negative impacts of the COVID vaccine. One of the things they mentioned in their update included the following: “Rapid-response investigation of the signal in the VSD raised a question of whether people 65 and older who have received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent were more likely to have an ischemic stroke in the 21 days following vaccination compared with days 22-44 following vaccination.”

The CDC does not believe there is a significant risk for stroke in people aged 65 or older. However, they also stated there were enough reports to the public about this, warrantying some additional investigation by the agency.

Dr. Marty Makary shared the release by the CDC and asked that the agency release the data it reviewed to make it decide that it should investigate the vaccine’s side effects. He believes that transparency in releasing that data would increase public trust in what the CDC is doing and would provide more information to the public about what should be considered about the COVID-19 vaccine.

There is more work to be done by the CDC, but many people are questioning why they feel there is enough evidence that they might want to investigate things further. That is troubling to a great number of people.

With hundreds of millions of Americans having already taken the COVID-19 vaccine, there is a lot of concern about what can potentially be a whole host of adverse side effects that potentially come with taking the vaccine.

The CDC may produce even more reports and updates about any studies it might want to conduct regarding the vaccine. It’s important to keep up with all of their data and reports.
