Newsom's Wife In Deep Doo-Doo After Lying About Sex With Harvey Weinstein

As she took the stand in the Harvey Weinstein trial, the defense pointed out that regret is not the same as rape.

Previously, Newsom’s wife appeared in the trial as Jane Doe. Per Deadline, “Calling Weinstein’s alleged 2005 assault of Newsom in Beverly Hills’ Peninsula Hotel “consensual, transactional sex” between an ambitious filmmaker-actress and a powerful producer, Jackson further mocked Newsom, aka Jane Doe #4, in language that seemed to intentionally alienate any notion of empathy, saying, ‘Jane Doe #4 cannot square in her mind the idea that she’s a successful, well educated, well-bred refined woman, who had consensual sex with Harvey Weinstein in exchange for opportunity and access.’”

Deadline explains, “First revealing a long-ago encounter with Weinstein just days after the New York Times dropped its detailed exposé about the Oscar winner in late 2017, Newsom, who did not marry then-San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom until 2008, has always maintained that she was attacked against her will by the producer 17 years ago.”

Both the prosecution and defense see this testimony as one of the most important of the trial, leading to the defense attacking it over and over so that Newsom’s wife will lose credibility.

The defense has repeatedly referred to one problem: the lack of evidence. Another hole in her story is that she continued contacting Weinstein for potential roles after the alleged rape. According to the NY Post, “Jackson pointed out how despite being allegedly violently raped by Weinstein, Siebel Newsom continued to email him for meetings and asked if there were movie roles she could audition for.”

The article continues, “The defense also showed a collage of the more than dozen emails, including one where she asked Weinstein’s advice on how to handle negative press regarding a scandal involving her then-boyfriend Gavin Newsom, who had a prior affair with an aide.”

The advice wasn’t the only thing that Newsom wanted from Weinstein. The same news source states, “There were dozens of emails soliciting campaign contributions for her husband.”

Allegedly, she was violently raped by this man to the point that she couldn’t remember details. She described the event as horrific. However, that didn’t stop her from attempting to use Weinstein for advice, roles, or money.
