Delusional Don Lemonhead FIRMLY Believes CNN Was Never Liberal

Don Lemon of CNN wants you to believe that the network was "never liberal" despite much evidence to the contrary.

Many observers believe that Lemon is just doing a deflection job to make sure that his network isn't criticized even more than it already has been for its liberal coverage of the news.

The new boss at CNN is Chris Licht, and he is under a lot of pressure right now to bring the struggling network back to relevance. "Late Show" host Steven Colbert spoke with Don Lemon about his opinions regarding the new boss.

Fox News reports that Colbert asked the following question with a tongue-in-cheek attitude:

"Word on the street is that you guys aren't allowed to be liberal anymore. Is that the case?"

Don Lemon responded that the network was never liberal, to begin with.

Colbert was taken aback by the comment and reminded Lemon that it wasn't just Colbert saying that the network is liberal. He reminded Lemon that the network is frequently criticized for being too liberal.

Lemon responded to the accusations by saying:

"Well, listen, I think what Chris is saying is that he wants Republicans – sensible Republicans, he wants us to hold people to account, but he wants people to come on and feel comfortable with coming on and talking on CNN and appearing on CNN."

He said that when you invite someone into your house, you should make them feel comfortable; he feels that is what CNN does. Most observers would argue that the news media shouldn't try to "make politicians feel comfortable." Instead, they should ask the hard-hitting questions that the public wants to know. Otherwise, the purpose of free media has dissolved before our very eyes.

Lemon said that he makes no effort to be liberal or conservative in his coverage. Instead, he claims that he only wants to practice good journalism no matter what.

Colbert offered him a lifeline by saying that the network could hold politicians accountable without being confrontational. Lemon seemed to agree with that sentiment.

The CNN host did say that he feels like sometimes it is necessary to be confrontational. He firmly believes that the natural state for journalists should be to try to get accurate answers and details from their interview subjects. He doesn't feel that one has to be a partisan to accomplish these goals. Regardless, many still feel like CNN has a liberal bent, which isn't going to help their ratings.
