Anyone who watched coverage of the results was sure to hear pundits repeat that specific MAGA candidates were "election deniers." This was thrown at them as a near slur about their opinion of the 2020 election. The term was meant to shame these candidates and paint them as extremists. However, it is attractive to many that the term is used exclusively for candidates with questions about the 2020 election.

Then, in 2018, Democrat star Stacey Abrams lost a close election in Georgia. Brian Kemp, the candidate who became governor of Georgia, won the election by approximately 3%. However, Abrams refused to concede the race. Democrats like to breeze over the fact that Abrams lost to Kemp in 2022, this time by a more significant margin. This truly set the table for candidates to question the legitimacy of election results.
