Even The Best Go Woke: Prestigious University Draws Criticism For New Radical Curriculum

Students at the prestigious Cambridge University in the United Kingdom are in for quite the surprise as they learn that their University is beginning to use a curriculum that many calls “woke.”

A couple of things that critics point out is that the University calls for all educators to use non-binary language when referring to gender. On top of that, they are asking all professors to write in both English and German to remain as inclusive as possible.

Students can even place a star next to German gender-identifying words to make them as impartial as possible.

Oliver Baer, a Dortmund native who is a member of the German Language Association, spoke about how those who attempt to speak or write in the German language in a way that is gender-neutral and inclusive are likely to butcher the language significantly.

He points out that German is not set up to be spoken that way. The language structure is designed to rely upon gendered terms, which is just how it is. Students and faculty at Cambridge can try to force inclusiveness into the language, but it just isn’t there.

Baer continued by saying that it might be possible to change the language to fit one’s political agenda in a place like North Korea. Still, it simply doesn’t work in a free and fair society and doesn’t work with the German language. He is not impressed by what Cambridge is trying to force its students to speak German in a way that was not intended to be spoken.

He continued by saying that the German language is abused by people who attempt to make it gender-neutral. He also stated that this is all done by people who are “obsessed with genitalia.” He feels this is nothing more than a wave of people who don’t want to accept the reality that the German language is structured and established in a certain way.

You can try to transform it to bend your will, but it just doesn’t work that way. He is embarrassed for those who continue to try to push this agenda onto things that were never built for it.

Cambridge University is sticking by its recommended curriculum at this time. Still, there has certainly been a fair amount of public pushback to the reforms they are attempting now.
