According to a report by the New York Post, there’s something to be said for creative political platforms, and that seems to be the case for Mike Itkis.

Third-party hopeful, Itkis, is running against Democratic Representative Jerry Nadler in the 12th Congressional District. To bring attention to his campaign, Itkis participated in and posted a 13-minute sex tape to bring attention to his support of legalizing sex work.

In the tape, Itkis and Nicole Sage, an adult porn star, engage in adult sexual behavior. Itkis explained his reasoning for making a sex tape by saying to City & State, “If I would just talk about it, it wouldn’t demonstrate my commitment to the issue.” “And the fact I actually did it was a huge learning experience, and it actually influenced items on my platform."

He also noted that the video, titled “Bucket List Bonanza,” was posted as “a conversation piece” on a well-trafficked porn website.

According to the New York Post article, the video is Itkis’ first venture into having on-camera sex. He stated, “I’m very much an introvert” “I’m kind of a nerd who doesn’t like to be the center of attention if I can avoid it. But I thought the issues I’m trying to address are so important.” “I wanted to have my issues talked about in some way.”

The New York Post notes no comment was forthcoming about the sex tape from the Nadler campaign when requested by City & State. The article also reported that Itkis’ Republican opponent, Mike Zumbluskas, said he understood why a candidate would want to find a way to draw attention to their platform in a high-profile political race.

Zumbluskas had the final word by saying, “You gotta do what you gotta do.”
