Ouch! MTG's Husband Files For Divorce After 27 Years

But, this time, she won’t run as a married woman. Greene’s husband, Perry Greene, filed for divorce from the Georgia Representative on Wednesday morning in a Georgia Court. According to MTG, Marjorie Taylor Greene’s estranged husband and reported by Fox News and TMZ, the only reason for the 27-year marriage ending is that the union is “irretrievably broken,” according to records filed in the Floyd County Superior Court.

The two married 27 years ago in August 1995 and shared three adult children. The two have been separated for some time but seemed to want to remain married until now. As per Fox News, an additional filing to seal the records was also entered into the courts stating “confidential and sensitive information.” The petition argues that “the parties’ significant privacy interest in sealing the records outweighs the public’s minuscule interest in access to said records.”

Representative Greene released the following statement as per TMZ: “Marriage is a wonderful thing, and ‘I’m a firm believer in it. Our society is formed by a husband and wife creating a family to nurture and protect. Together, Perry and I formed our family and raised three great kids. He gave me the best job title you can ever earn: Mom. I’ll always be grateful for how great of a dad he is to our children. This is a private and personal matter, and I ask that the media respect our privacy at this time.”

The Congresswoman’s team said in a release that she and Perry would focus on their friendship and three children as they move forward. Both expressed gratitude that they have the opportunity to enjoy watching their children grow into adults. The hearing date does not have a set time or day yet. MTG is extremely vocal about her conservative values and ideals. How this will impact her November re-election is unclear.
