As evacuees tried to make their way out of harm’s way from Hurricane Ian, some Florida hotels have cut their rates to make sure everyone who needs to find shelter from the storm can afford it.

In a statement the hotel chain shared on Twitter, Rosen hotels announced they are “putting people over profit in times of need.”.

Hurricane Ian is slated to drop up to 24 inches of rain in its path, and there is a potential for tornado risks.

Rosen Hotels & Resorts announced their “distress rates” to help alleviate expenses for those needing to evacuate due to the intense storm. The hotel chain will also waive pet rates. According to Africa Business Insider, these special discounted prices will remain in effect as long as necessary.

The purpose of the reduced rate is to offer everyone fleeing the path and destruction of Hurricane Ian a safe place to stay with family members and pets, if necessary. The initial evacuation of the area is not the only time residents and visitors to the state may find themselves in danger. It is not only the hurricane passing through that creates dangerous living conditions. The aftermath also creates hazards such as no electricity, flooding, and other damage the storm leaves in its wake.

Rosen Hotels want to ensure everyone has a safe place to stay at an affordable rate. The hotel chain has many locations across areas of Florida in the expected path of the hurricane.

The discounted rates do not include tax. For a night at Rosen Inn International, Rosen Inn Closest to Universal, Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando, and Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista, rates are $69 plus tax.

Africa Business Insider reported Rosen Plaza rates are $99 per night. Rosen Centre set their price at $109 per night. Rosen Shingle Creek’s special distress rates are $119 per night.
