Two suspects are under arrest concerning the burglary of Los Angeles Mayoral candidate Karen Bass. Two men, Juan Espinoza, 24, and Patricio Munoz, 42, are in custody with bail set at $600,000 for Munoz. Espinoza has no bail set.

The two suspects were arrested on burglary charges after the LAPD stopped the car as they drove it away from the residence in Baldwin Vista.

The Democratic Congresswoman, Karen Bass, reported that her house was broken into and burglarized. She admitted that she no longer feels safe in Los Angeles, where she is currently running for mayor.

Bass claims that the burglars took guns from her home and left it in shambles. She recalled arriving home to find everything in disarray and said of the entire ordeal, “it was very traumatic.” The 60-year-old lawmaker said, “Angelenos all around the city are not feeling safe.” She continued, “I did feel safe until my safety was shattered, like so many Angelenos.”

She is currently running for mayor against billionaire businessman Rick Caruso. However, the ordeal has not changed her policies. She said she “thought from the beginning that the number one job of the mayor is to make sure that Angelenos are safe.”

Caruso expressed sympathy to Bass for what he called the “violation.” In a Tuesday campaign event, Caruso said crime is “happening way too much in the city of Los Angeles, and we need to fix that.” He continued, “We need to prevent crime and reduce crime in the city. So I’m sorry it happened to her.”

While two suspects are under arrest, it’s unclear whether she received her guns back. She said the firearms were registered and locked in a safe box hidden in her closet. However, cash, electronics, and other valuables were left behind. She also mentioned that she had no idea why she became a target.
