The New Orleans Mayor stated that she’s not paying back the money because the flying economy is unsafe for black women and because she has a child. Daily Wire says, “The Democrat mayor made the shocking claim at a news conference Thursday where she was asked if she would reimburse the city for $30,000 spent on flying in luxury.”
The same news source quoted the mayor saying, “My travel accommodations are a matter of safety, not luxury. As women know, our health and safety are typically disregarded, and we are left to navigate alone.”

Interestingly, the rest of the people who went with Cantrell flew coach. According to The Daily Wire, she would not have been alone, which indicated that her entourage flew coach.
New Orleans has a policy requiring employees to cover the difference in upgrade costs, such as the coach price and first-class seats. Cantrell insists this does not apply to her, and she still refuses to follow the law. Cantrell stated, “All expenses incurred doing business on behalf of the city of New Orleans will not be reimbursed to the city of New Orleans.”

Residents remain fed up. This is not the first time Cantrell has spent thousands of dollars to fly first class instead of a few hundred to fly coach. Per Daily Wire, “Last month, residents launched a recall effort against Cantrell, citing the expensive trips and the city’s soaring crime rate.” She stands up for criminals and wastes the city’s money with complete disregard for the residents of New Orleans.
