President Joe Biden traveled to Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, and delivered a speech about his plan to deal with the spike in crime that has occurred in the wake of the Defund the Police movement.

However, according to Political Insider, the President also proposed a ban on so-called “assault weapons.” Biden had a message to supporters of the 2nd Amendment who object to banning an entire class of firearms. “For those brave, right-wing Americans who say it’s all about keeping America independent and safe. If you want to fight against a country, you need an F-15. You need something a little more than a gun.”

Breitbart noted that Biden had used the F-15 trope before. On June 24, 2021, the President not only mentioned F-15s but nuclear weapons.

“Those who say the blood of liberty, the, uh, blood of patriots, you know, and all this stuff about how we’re going to have to move against the government. Well, the tree of liberty is not watered with the blood of patriots. What’s happened is that there never been– if you wanna– think you need weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons. The point is there’s always been the ability to limit– rationally limit the type of weapon that can be owned and who can own it.”

Breitbart also noted that contrary to Biden and other advocates of banning assault weapons, AR-15s are not “weapons of war.” They are semiautomatic rifles that use a .22 caliber bullet. The AR-15 resembles a military weapon, but unlike the firearms carried by soldiers, they can only fire one round for each trigger pull. The military uses automatic weapons that can empty an entire clip of bullets in a single burst.

Finally, some commenters on social media asked an embarrassing question. How many F-15s did the Taliban have when they chased the mightiest armed force on the planet out of Afghanistan? Thus far, President Biden has not answered that question.
