Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) announced proposed legislation that would make giving puberty blockers and performing gender-changing surgery on minors a crime.

Greene said the legislation, which would hit providers with Class C felonies, is already in preparation, though she only has five co-sponsors and hasn't garnered the votes of all her Republican colleagues.

"You see, I’m one of those that believes the Republican Party is only worth being a true party, worth deserving of the people’s votes, if we are willing to stand up and stop horrific things like child abuse and like so-called gender-affirming care, which is really genital mutilation, puberty blockers that cause chemical castration, teenage girls have been their breasts chopped off, teenage boys being castrated. This needs to be illegal," she told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Thursday night.

"I'm introducing a bill, creating a law, causing it to be a Class C felony for any person involved in so-called gender-affirming care — that means gender mutilation surgery, hormones, puberty blockers, anything involving youth under the age of 18 — because they’re too young to make these awful decisions that will affect them and will be permanent for the rest of their lives," the congresswoman stated. Greene said she's discussing with the rest of her colleagues to gather more Republican support for the measure.

"It’s the kind of thing nightmares are made of. These are monsters under kids’ beds doing these horrific things to them," Greene stressed.

Carlson honored Greene's bill and told her to send him a list of "every Republican who's too cowardly to affirm the obvious."

Parents have been included in a battle with the Department of Education over transgender ideology, especially following the Biden administration's proposal of a Title IX regulation that would demand schools to give education consistent with whatever gender students identify with.

Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration finished preparing new rules Thursday that will block healthcare providers from billing Medicaid to cover transgender surgeries.

Language added to the rules that oversee the state's $36.2 billion Medicaid program, which will go into effect Aug. 21, will ban the use of funds for puberty blockers, hormone therapies, or surgical procedures as treatments for gender dysphoria, according to Politico.

The board of the health agency passed a motion to revise the rules on Friday that was met with criticism by the state's LGBT community. The state's surgeon general, Joseph Ladapo, supported the new urules at the meeting, stating that puberty is a confusing time for teenagers and warning of the risks of such procedures.

“Puberty is such an elaborate and confusing time,” Ladapo said, according to the Washington Post. “On the safety, again, it is incontrovertible. There clearly is a level of risk with these procedures, both the hormone therapy and hormone blockers for individuals who are in puberty and for the surgical interventions.”
