In a concerning turn of events, it was revealed that former U.S. President Donald Trump is being investigated for potential violations of the Espionage Act. According to the search warrant made public by a Florida court on Friday, it seems the Democrats are fishing once again in the fake news pond to try and pin anything on him.

After two failed impeachments, a 4-year hoax about Russia collusion which began with a Clinton campaign meeting, and a sham investigation into a mostly peaceful protest at the Capitol in which Democrats and some Republicans turned a blind eye to actual insurrection during the Summer of 2020 by Black Lives Matter, and pinned that label on conservative Americans, now they have resorted to weaponizing the FBI.

Eleven sets of confidential records were recovered from Trump’s Florida resort during an FBI search on Monday, part of a trove of about two dozen boxes of secret and top-secret documents, according to a published inventory alongside the warrant. Also retrieved was information about the “President of France.”

Included among around 20 boxes taken from Mar-a-Lago were four sets of top-secret documents, three sets of secret documents, and one set of documents marked as Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information, a designation for the most sensitive classified government information that is needed to be held in special protected government facilities.

The search warrant and list of items taken from Trump’s home were published on Friday after the government filed a measure to uncover the documents on Thursday, referring to the intense public interest in the case and the fact that Trump opted to make news of the search public on Monday.

The warrant suggests that the former President is being examined under suspicion of violating three separate statutes about the handling of sensitive government information, obstruction of justice, and potential violations of the Espionage Act regarding the gathering, transmitting, or losing of defense information.

“To see that subsection used as a foundation for a search warrant executed at the home of the former president of the United States is a startling thing,” said David Laufman, a former U.S. Justice Department official who served as head of the counterintelligence and export control section. Laufman said that no former president has ever been investigated under the act.

The Espionage Act is comprehensive and covers the mishandling of classified government documents and their disclosure to foreign adversaries. The primary statute, U.S. Code 793, focuses on national security information “used to the injury of the United States, or to the advantage of any foreign nation.”

The unsealed warrant verifies some key details about the FBI’s search of Trump’s property, which sparked a political firestorm from the former president and his allies in the Republican Party. Nevertheless, the affidavit, which would provide a much more detailed justification for the FBI search and methodology and sources for the investigation, remains under seal.
