Cassidy Hutchinson, a key witness in the Jan. 6 committee hearings, served for former President Donald Trump for nine weeks after he left the White House, according to a report.

Hutchinson, whose heated testimony in June brought her to national attention, was a coordinator for Trump as part of his post-presidential office that is taxpayer-funded, Business Insider reported, mentioning General Services Administration documents.

Her work with Trump endured from January 20, 2021 until April 1, 2021. She received an annualized salary of $90,000, the outlet reported.

Hutchinson was a close aide to Mark Meadows, the former chief of staff for Trump before the Republican left office.

Her testimony included numerous extraordinary accusations, including that Trump tried to seize the wheel of the presidential SUV he was in on Jan. 6 to join supporters descending on the Capitol and that the ex-president demanded the Secret Service allow armed supporters into his “Stop the Steal” rally.

She also stressed she was “disgusted” that Trump sent a tweet in the middle of the riot attacking former Vice President Mike Pence for not decertifying state electors that allowed Joe Biden to win the 2020 election.

“It was unpatriotic and un-American, and we were watching the Capitol building get defaced over a lie,” she said, later adding: “I still struggle to work through the emotions of that.”

Trump claimed after her testimony in a post on his website Truth Social that Hutchinson was just a discontented employee he didn’t really know. “I hardly know who this person, Cassidy Hutchinson, is, other than I heard very negative things about her (a total phony and ‘leaker’), and when she requested to go with certain others of the team to Florida after my having served a full term in office, I personally turned her request down,” Trump wrote.

“Why did she want to go with us if she felt we were so terrible? I understand that she was very upset and angry that I didn’t want her to go, or be a member of the team,” the former president alleged. “She is bad news!”

Business Insider obtained the records connected to Hutchinson after suing the U.S. General Services Administration in October 2021 to get the names of staffers that worked for Trump after he left the White House. Insider reported it was not clear what work Hutchinson performed while serving in the Trump post-presidency role, but that she worked from Arlington, Virginia, instead of in Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump lived in Mar-a-Lago.

Insider said Hutchinson or her lawyers did not return messages seeking comment.
