The ad starts with a red flip-flop in the sand that reads "FREEDOM OVER FAUCI" and then cuts to a montage of the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases going back and forth on his view of masking and children in schools.
"DR. FAUCI...HE FLIPS, HE FLOPS," the ad states. "BUT HE CAN'T STOP FREEDOM IN FLORIDA."

According to the ad, the flip-flops seen at the start of the clip are available to pre-order on DeSantis's website.
While Conservatives praised the commercial, Liberals and those on the Left opposed it.
"The stupidity in this one is very strong," said Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC's Morning Joe. "I thought his ads four years ago were the dumbest ads I've ever seen, where he's reading Donald Trump bedtime stories to his baby, who I'm betting is sorry he did that now."

However, Scarborough said DeSantis's new ad comes to a new level.
"I guess stupid people will like the ad," he said. "To attack a guy because, well, the realities of a virus change as the virus changes as the virus moves, as the virus, you know, mutates. It just — again, the height of stupidity. It got him elected last time. I suppose it will get him elected again this time, but just, again, so stupid. It should make your teeth hurt."

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Monday said it is limiting the use of two monoclonal antibody therapies from Eli Lilly and Regeneron because they are ineffective at treating the Omicron variant. As a result, Florida health officials closed the state's antibody treatment centers. DeSantis was fast to slam the move, saying in a statement that Biden "has forced trained medical professionals to choose between treating their patients or breaking the law."

"There are real-world implications to Biden's medical authoritarianism — Americans' access to treatments is now subject to the whims of a failing president," he added.
DeSantis has been one of the most outspoken advocates of antibody treatments, especially the cocktail from Regeneron that was given to former President Trump.

The treatments were efficient at keeping out of the hospital people who contracted the original strain of the Coronavirus and the Delta variant. Studies in labs have shown they do not work against Omicrons. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 99 percent of infections nationwide are now from Omicron.
