President Joe Biden touted his "partner" Vice President Kamala Harris for "always having my back" during a Democratic National Committee grassroots event Friday, telling her "I love you" as critics condemn their first year in office.

"Hi, Kamala. I love you," Biden said during his opening remarks. "You always have my back. You're really amazing. You're the best partner I could imagine."

Smiling, Harris replied: "I do."

The president's approval of Harris comes after he told reporters ON Wednesday he thought she "was doing a good job" and would certainly be his running mate in 2024.

That spirit is definitely nice,, but the couple ended their first year in office with historically awful approval ratings in three separate surveys issued on the one-year anniversary of the inauguration.

Biden, during Friday's speech, praised his party for their support, alleging it contributed to the "enormous progress" made during his first year in office. Nevertheless, he admitted there were "many challenges" too.

"I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your support as we make — mark one year in office. Well, sometimes, it seems longer, doesn’t it, Kamala?" Biden said.

Biden promised to push forward with his voting rights bill, which the Senate failed to advance on Wednesday.

"Now, we’re going to stand up and protect the right to vote and have that vote counted," he argued. "That’s what the Republicans are trying to take away. That’s what we always have to protect."
