Kamala's First Resigning Aide To Become 'Leftist Superstar'

Symone Sanders, the former spokeswoman for Vice President Kamala Harris and a former aide to President Biden, has been hired by MSNBC to host shows on the cable network and its Peacock streaming service.

Sanders tweeted the news Monday morning, linking to MSNBC’s statement.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ former top spokesperson has only been off the job for less than two weeks, but already she’s got her next major gig lined up.

“Well I guess I have some news to share this morning. I am excited to join @MSNBC and @TheChoice! I look forward to working with some of the most talented and amazing people in news,” she wrote.

“There is a lot to learn, but I’m ready to get to work!” Sanders, 32, went on. The network revealed she would host a Washington, DC-based show on the weekends and appear on Peacock’s “The Choice from MSNBC.”

“Sanders will bring her expertise, spirited rhetoric, and sharp political insight to MSNBC’s multi-platform channels. Her program will explore issues at the intersection of politics, culture, and race and break down how decisions made in Washington impact electorates, industries, and communities across the country,” MSNBC announced in the statement. “She will also interview law and policymakers, top government officials, scholars, and thought leaders,” it said.

In December, Sanders, a native of Nebraska, announced that she would be leaving as chief spokeswoman for Harris, which came amid speculation that staffers were departing the White House because of a rift between Harris and Biden.

Ahead of joining the Biden presidential campaign, Sanders worked as press secretary for Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign. She also worked as a CNN commentator and wrote a book, “No, You Shut Up: Speaking Truth to Power and Reclaiming America in 2020.”

Politico reported last month that while multiple networks reached out to Sanders about potential on-air contributor gigs, MSNBC had gone further, expressing interest in bringing Sanders on board as a contributor or on-air host.

Sanders’ hire also marks the latest in an arms race for talent between the networks as they attempt to build out their streaming services.

On Monday, CNN announced that longtime host of NPR’s "All Things Considered," Audie Cornish, was joining the network as an anchor and correspondent for CNN. In the last month alone, CNN also announced streaming-only shows from well-known food writer Alison Roman, actress Eva Longoria, and former Fox News host Chris Wallace.
