After purportedly testing positive for COVID-19, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was pulled from Tuesday's game in Sacramento.

The club has not confirmed that James tested positive, but he has been placed under the NBA's health and safety process, which means he is either infected or has been identified as a close contact of someone who is.

However, according to TMZ, James underwent three tests on Tuesday, two of which were positive.

'Test 1 (lateral flow) was positive. The 2nd (PCR) test was negative,' Michael Babcock of TMZ sent up a tweet.

'James was then given a 3rd tiebreaker test which came back positive. I'm told he's asymptotic at this time.

Anyone who comes into close contact with a COVID-positive person is required to quarantine under NBA standards.

Without James, the Lakers defeated the Kings 117-92 in Sacramento on Tuesday night.

James confirmed he was completely vaccinated in September.

'I know that for me I can speak about myself,' James said. 'I think everyone has their own choice to do what they feel is right for themselves and their family, and things of that nature.

'I know that I was very [skeptical] about it all, but after doing my research, and things of that nature, I felt like it was best suited for not only me but for my family and for my friends, and that's why I decided to do it.'

The Lakers' head of basketball operations, Rob Pelinka, stated at the end of August that he expected all of the players on the roster to be completely vaccinated before the team's first game on October 19.

After being sidelined with an abdominal strain and serving a one-game ban for an on-court altercation against the Detroit Piston, James has only played in 11 of the Lakers' 22 games this season. The Lakers are now 11-11 in the Western Conference, good for seventh place.

James has had a bad few weeks, with the COVID quarantine coming just four days after he was fined $15,000 by the NBA for making an obscene gesture during a game known as the 'Big Balls Dance,' as well as a warning for using vulgar language.

The dance was held on Wednesday to commemorate the Pacers' victory.

On Sunday, he used harsh language after being sent off and suspended during a game against the Detroit Pistons, calling the ruling "some bulls***." On Friday, James was fined.

He received his suspension on Sunday after elbowing Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart in the face, resulting in a bloodied eye. As they wrestled for position on a free throw during Sunday's game, James slammed Stewart in the face with his left arm and fist. Stewart falls to the ground clutching his face, and James appears to acknowledge the incident, going to Stewart and extending his hand in an apparent apologies gesture.

As teammates raced to separate the two players, an enraged Stewart went at James.

Stewart, who was bleeding excessively around his right eye, fought with teammates as he attempted to come at James again and again. Coaches and referees fought in vain to keep Stewart in check as he continually broke away. Finally, Stewart nodded his head and walked toward the tunnel, appearing to consent to go to the locker room.

But it was all a deception, as Stewart wheeled and charged at James again, rushing up the floor as coaches, players, and refs swarmed him, hanging to his arms. Stewart was finally dragged away from the court and dashed up the tunnel to the dressing room. Referees dismissed both James and Stewart from the game. James was suspended following the game, so he will not play against the New York Knicks on Monday.

James told an ESPN reporter that the decision was 'some bulls***'.

He claimed that the Lakers' general manager, Rob Pelinka, called him with the terrible news.

'Rob called me. I missed his call,' James told ESPN.

'As soon as when I checked my phone and it was a missed call, I was like, I know I'm suspended. 'I mean, it's some bulls***. But whatever.'

On Friday, James received his second reprimand for making an obscene gesture when he returned to the court on Wednesday. James made a deep three-point shot late in the fourth quarter of the Lakers' overtime triumph over Indiana, and then performed the 'Big Balls Dance,' as it is known in NBA circles. As he walked back down the court, he performed a cupping motion with his palm below his groin while bouncing from foot to foot. On Wednesday, James made a point of ejecting two young Indiana Pacers fans from the game for making disrespectful statements. He was observed motioning to the referee and marching him over to two young fans who were seated courtside.

When the two were ordered to leave by an official, they stood up and departed their seats, with the girl making a mimicking weeping face and stroking her eyes like a baby. The Pacers couple does not appear to have said anything on social media about the incident. What they had said or done to enrage James was unknown. The pair made nasty remarks about LeBron's eldest kid, Bronny, according to a YouTuber who claimed to be sitting courtside near them.
