Newsday reported that the marchers trekked down Sunrise Highway all the way to the Nassau County village’s business district, where they stormed into shops while screaming slogans and passing out fliers detailing the group’s philosophies.

The protest drew the ire of local elected officials.
US Rep. Kathleen Rice, a Democrat whose district includes the South Shore of Long Island, expressed she was “disgusted” by the group.
“I’m aware of the march through Rockville Centre that white nationalists organized today. I am disgusted that this took place in our district,” she tweeted. “I will continue to fight against racism, hatred, and white nationalism while serving as your representative.

State Assemblywoman Judy Griffin (D-Rockville Centre) said the demonstration was unsettling.

The weekend Proud Boys protest comes after the group last month took to the streets of Long Island’s Patchogue and Bay Shore communities, as per a Patch report.
Several members of the extremist organization have faced criminal consequences for their participation in the Jan. 6 Capitol siege.
On Tuesday, the House Select Committee investigating the deadly riot issued five subpoenas targeting right-wing groups, including the Proud Boys.
