The House Jan. 6 committee slapped leaders of far-Right groups with five more subpoenas that the groups have a connection to the Capitol riot.

The Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, members of which have been indicted in connection to the attack on Congress, were separated in this latest wave. Henry "Enrique" Tarrio, chairman of the Proud Boys on Jan. 6, Elmer Stewart Rhodes, president of the Oath Keepers, and Robert Patrick Lewis, chairman of 1st Amendment Praetorian, were all named by the committee, which is seeking papers and testimony.

"We believe the individuals and organizations we subpoenaed today have relevant information about how violence erupted at the Capitol and the preparation leading up to this violent attack," Chairman Bennie Thompson said in a statement. "The Select Committee is moving swiftly to uncover the facts of what happened on that day and we expect every witness to comply with the law and cooperate so we can get answers to the American people."

Members of the Proud Boys called for violence leading up to Jan. 6 and repeatedly spread former President Donald Trump's allegation that the 2020 election was stolen, according to the panel.

While Tarrio was not permitted passage to Washington, D.C., the day the riot occurred, he was supposedly included in the group's preparation for the events at the Capitol.

People with connections to the Oath Keepers organization were also involved in planning and participating in the Capitol riot, the panel said in a statement.

The committee said that Rhodes repeatedly insinuated the group should practice violence to guarantee Trump's victory in the election. On the day of the riot, Rhodes was supposedly in contact with several of the group's members before, during, and after the riot, including meeting some of them outside the Capitol.

1st Amendment Praetorian's Twitter account suggested on Jan. 4 that violence was imminent.

On Jan. 6, Lewis tweeted, "Today is the day the true battles begin." Lewis claimed on Jan. 7 he was involved in "war-gaming" to continue efforts to overturn the election results.

The five subpoenas presented by the committee come a day after it gave five subpoenas to allies of Trump, including Roger Stone, Alex Jones, Dustin Stockton, his fiance Jennifer Lawrence, and Taylor Budowich.

Dozens of others have been subpoenaed , and more than 150 people have been questioned, according to members of the Jan. 6 committee.

One of them, Trump ally Steve Bannon, was indicted by a federal grand jury for defying his subpoena. He surrendered to authorities and pleaded not guilty to both counts of criminal contempt of Congress.
