Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) described the filibuster as an "instrument of racism" in an interview broadcast on Sunday, as she suggested that "corporate" Democrats could halt off President Biden's $1.75 trillion spending bill.

She announced that the filibuster had repeatedly been utilized to stand in the way of progress for Black Americans.

And she stated that "corporate" Democrats, not only Sens. Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema - the main targets of Progressives - were affected by donors who "don't have the best interests of the American people in mind."

"I'm fearful" of what might occur as the Senate takes up the bill, she explained to Axios.

"I'm fearful that those groups are gonna guide this agenda. It's gonna be the people that are gonna continue to profit off of human suffering."

After months of haggling and only days after Biden signed a $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill into law, the House of Representatives approved his Build Back Better plan on Friday.

Now it has to return to the Senate, where holdout Democrats have pared away key provisions and over a trillion dollars from the plan.

With the upper chamber divided 50-50, the holdouts can leverage enormous power as Democratic leaders attempt to eke out a win.

Sinema and Manchin have denounced the wrath of progressives. Demonstrators followed Sinema into a restroom as they harangued her, and protesters encompassed Manchin in his car at a parking garage this month.

And now it has appeared that Republican donors are supporting them.

In September, billionaire Stanley Hubbard wrote his first check to Sinema and announced he was further considering donating to Manchin.

"Those are two good people — Manchin and Sinema — and I think we need more of those in the Democratic Party," Hubbard stated, according to The New York Times.

Tlaib, a member of the so-called "Squad of progressive House members, said she was referring to Manchin and Sinema when she talked about corporate Democrats, "but I think there are some others that ... have issues with the prescription drug negotiations there."

"And so I can't say it's just those two. They seem to be leading the fight, but I wouldn't be surprised if folks are hiding behind them."

She maintained previous remarks that defenders of the filibuster are somewhat motivated by racism.

"There was an anti-lynching legislation - they used the filibuster to block it," she announced.

"And now the freedom to vote, using the filibuster to block it."

"Use of the filibuster seems to be triggered in points like this, where it is about uplifting Black folks in our country and protecting them," she stated.

Manchin and Sinema have drastically hindered Biden's strength to push his agenda through Congress.
