President Joe Biden has pardoned two turkeys named Peanut Butter and Jelly, an announcement made Thursday that led to many on social media to taunt their names and say that PB&J is what many Americans will be eating this Thanksgiving thanks to soaring prices and the highest inflation in 31 years.

The White House on Thursday tweeted out a video offering the two Indiana- raised turkeys, who were seen being given the VIP treatment.

In the video, the turkeys were seen trotting on their plush beds at the five-star Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C., where they are staying until the pardoning ceremony Friday morning at the White House.

The pardoning comes as inflation soared 6.2 percent, its highest point since November 1990, which has led to increases in the cost of essentials for Americans such as food, gas, and even furniture.

President Biden has blamed the rise in the cost of living on "market manipulation" and growing gas prices, despite the nation's top economists pointing to the country's supply-chain shortages and businesses trying to meet the demand from COVID shutdowns as the cause for the rise in prices.

On Friday, Biden will be continuing the decades-old tradition of pardoning turkeys that started when president George H.W Bush pardoned a turkey at the White House in 1989.

The turkeys were introduced during a press conference Thursday where they stole the show before their White House appearance.

"Raising the presidential turkey flock has really been a lot of fun this year. As we all know, with another year of uncertainties with the pandemic, this project has really been something to look forward to," turkey grower Andrea Welp told reporters, CNN reported.

When Biden excuses the turkeys, he is expected to make plenty of bird puns just as his boss Barack Obama did during his tenure.

People on social media have made their own jokes about the birds, expressing the irony in the turkey's names and joking that many will be eating PB&J sandwiches as the country faces its highest inflation rates in decades.

"Appropriate given that's what most people will be having for Thanksgiving this year," another wrote, referencing the birds’ names.

"Unlike the 4th of July where you so kindly saved us all 16¢, thanksgiving meals will cost 14% more than last year. You can keep trying to distract us but people are paying attention," another person wrote, referencing the price increase in meals for this Thanksgiving holiday.
