Watch: Coughing Biden Forgets His Mask And His Manners

A staunch advocate of social etiquette during a pandemic, President Joe Biden seemed to cough or clear his throat, with his hand lifted to his mouth, before shaking hands with audience members after a New Jersey speaking event.

The 78-year-old president, maskless, walked off the stage and greeted a line of people, shaking their hands and speaking with an individual up close, video shows. Biden was in the Garden State to present his Build Back Better plan and the bipartisan infrastructure deal.

Less than a week earlier, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas tested positive for COVID-19 just days after being with Biden at an event where they were unmasked, but outdoors.

No White House principal was in close contact with Mayorkas, the most recent communication was at the outdoor National Peace Officers' Memorial Service, which took place outside of the 48-hour close contact window, Biden's team said on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, video footage showed a maskless Biden and first lady Jill Biden walking through a Washington, D.C., restaurant, breaking the city's mask mandate for indoor venues .

The Bidens are seen walking through ritzy D.C. Italian seafood restaurant, Fiola Mare, Saturday evening, followed by Secret Service wearing black suits and black facemasks.

The Daily Mail reports that the Bidens had just come from mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown. The presidential date night came on "Sweetest Day," a holiday marked in the Midwest and Florida to recognize expressions of romance and acts of kindness.

Washington, D.C. reinstated its mask mandate in July due to increasing delta variant cases for vaccinated and unvaccinated people over the age of 2.

Fiola Mare's website clearly states masks must be worn following the city mandate.

"Per CDC guidance and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser's executive order, all individuals over age 2 are required to wear a mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Masks must be always worn while in our restaurants, except while eating and drinking. Thank you for understanding," the restaurant's website reads.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has been caught several times breaking her own mask mandate, most recently in September when she spoke during an indoor panel at a convention center maskless, surrounded by maskless guest speakers.

Now, it seems the mayor has no shame, as she has posted yet more documentation proving she cannot and will not abide by the order the rest of us must follow, this time a full-length live stream of her speaking on a panel in the convention center.
